Lara Gibson has been elected Captain of the CURUFC Women’s squad as the team continues their preparations for the clash with Oxford at the end of the year.
Currently studying Veterinary Medicine, Gibson will be replacing fellow Lucy Cavendish student Alice Middleton as the teams lead. Having won two blues previously, the experienced centre will be looking to avenge the close loss to the Dark Blues in last years hard fought contest at Twickenham.
Having received the captaincy Gibson expressed what it means to her; “It’s an honour and a privilege to be captaining a team I have loved playing with for the last two years”
“I have big shoes to fill taking over from Alice, and many challenges lie ahead but I have huge confidence in our players as well as in the coaching and support that we receive from the club.
“I can’t wait for Varsity Match 2017 – we will be ready to fight for and reclaim the title, and I am sure its going to be a great contest”
