Leicester Tigers are proudly acting as a designated agent for Varsity Matches Company Ltd, raising funds for the Oxford University and Cambridge University Rugby Clubs.
What to expect on the day
As you might expect, whilst attending a match day at Mattioli Woods Welford Road will look and feel different to normal, we are working hard to ensure that everyone attending will have a brilliant experience that will exceed expectations!
There are a few essential pieces of information to know before booking. While we are hoping to welcome full crowds from June 21 without restrictions, we have all learned that things change quickly, and may inevitably have social distancing measures in place at any match. We therefore would recommend that you do not purchase tickets without being able to comply with the Spectator Code of Conduct below. Ultimately, it is up to you to perform your own risk assessment and to decide whether attending is the right thing for you:
Some key points of any potential Covid restrictions are:
- e-tickets only (no printed tickets will be issued)
- One-way systems in place
- When booking for groups, the lead booker will need to sign a COVID declaration form for their group
- We may have to take your temperature on arrival
- We may have to instigate staggered entry times
- You may have to wear a face covering, unless eating or drinking, or medically exempt
- No food and drink will be allowed to be brought into the stadium; there are lots of food and drink outlets available.
If you have any symptoms or fail a temperature test you will not be allowed to enter the stadium.
Book with confidence with our Refund Assurance
We cannot wait to welcome spectators back, but must ensure it is safe to do so. That is our number one priority, and we have been working with PRL, the RFU and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority to establish a safe return of crowds to Mattioli Woods Welford Road from 17 May.
From 17 May, we can see the return of crowds to Mattioli Woods Welford Road on a reduced capacity (circa 25%) with social distancing in place. We hope that matches from 21 June will be at full capacity, although this is still subject to Government clearance. If this date does change, it’s likely that we will have restricted capacities and may have to put social distancing policies in place again.
Although the ongoing pandemic continues to present us with many challenges and uncertainties, we appreciate the desire for clarity where possible, and will continue to update this page as our plans develop.
In the event of a change in Government guidelines post 21 June, where we may have to reduce the number of supporters in the stadium, those who have booked earliest will have priority on keeping their place, but there may be the need to move your seats within an area.
Even with all this, we want to give you confidence and peace of mind when purchasing products at Mattioli Woods Welford Road. We are here to reassure you that all of our tickets, hospitality and events are guaranteed to be refunded in the event that we are unable to allow you to enter our venue due to Government restrictions. This includes a reduced capacity or a match being played behind closed doors on health and safety grounds.
We will send details on how you will be refunded for specific purchases in the unfortunate event that we are unable to have you join us.
We plan to provide a pay-per-view live-streaming service so that spectators who are unable to come or who are worried about being in a crowd will be able to share the excitement of the 2021 Varsity Matches.
