Former Australian captain James Horwill and ex-Springbok Flip van der Merwe will pack down alongside each other in the Cambridge University second row for the game against British Police tonight (Wednesday, 12 November, 7.30pm kick-off at East London RFC).

The Light Blues also welcome Saracens centre Charlie Watson into their ranks for the first time after he completed his four week suspension picked up for a red card in a Premier Cup game against Northampton Saints earlier in the season.

Watson’s suspension has given him little time to make his mark ahead of the Varsity Match at Twickenham on Thursday, 12 December and he will be hoping to forge a partnership with four other newbies in the back division, Gibraltar international wing Tom Lovelace, former Scotland U18 squad centre Sean Mackle, ex-Loughborough wing Fergus Jemphrey and former Saracens Academy scrum half Al Gliksten.

Stephen Leonard leads the side from No 8 and will have three former Blues around him in the pack in front row men Charlie MacCallum and Mile Huppatz and fellow back row man Sean McMahon.
